Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to register if I am already on the Consular Electoral List? +

If you are already registered on the Consular Electoral List (LEC) and your details have not changed, you do not need to re-register. However, if you have moved or changed consular constituency, you must update your registration before April 24.

Can I vote from any country? +

Yes, any French citizen registered on the LEC can vote, regardless of their location. Electronic voting is accessible from anywhere in the world between May 22 and 27. Ballot box voting takes place at your consular polling station on May 30 or 31 depending on your geographic zone.

How does electronic voting work? +

Electronic voting is done through a secure platform accessible from a computer or smartphone. You will receive your login credentials by email and/or SMS before the vote opens. The system guarantees the secrecy of the vote and the integrity of the results.

What is the difference between a councillor for French citizens abroad and a consular delegate? +

Councillors for French citizens abroad sit on the consular council and can be elected to the Assembly of French Citizens Abroad (AFE). Consular delegates are elected under the same conditions but have a more limited role: they only participate in the election of senators for French citizens abroad as grand electors.
